My News Summary, 6/29/2009
For the past few months I’ve been collecting and sending to a friend of mine links to articles dealing mostly with Obama’s domestic and foreign policies. Rather than send my friend a dozen emails daily, I’ve decided to collect these links on my website and send him that. Most of what you will find here are links to articles that I find interesting or important with maybe a few words of commentary that I’ll add. The sites I visit most often are Atlas Shrugs, Hot Air, Instapundit, Ace of Spades HQ, JOSHUAPUNDIT, and Wolf Howling. Although I don’t necessarily agree with everything on these sites, I’ve overall found the analysis there to be good and worth reading, which is why I reference their articles. You can consider what I’m doing as either a personal news summary or my sharing with you my part of a conversation.
Do we have a personal stake in what’s going on in Iran? Atlas Shrugs says yes: The Case for Iran: Fighting for Freedom, while JOSHUAPUNDIT leans toward no: Masquerade In Iran. Also, the comments section for both articles are worth reading.
More articles on the situation in Iran: Iranian Regime Arrests British Embassy Employees, Crackdown In Iran Puts Mousavi in Tight Spot, Obama STILL Wants to Hold Talks With Killer Iranian Regime, ISLAMIC FINANCE: Foreign bank accounts of those Iranian leaders (as one of the postings in the comments section to this article points out: That’s why they call money “mullah”), Iran: Our Election Was Fine, Move Along, The Thugs Who Lead Iran’s Supreme Leader, and Guess who’s leading the recount in Iran? (“In the first reports from the review, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reports that Ahmadinejad has increased his lead over Mirhossein Mousavi…”).
Comparing Obama’s “Weenie Diplomacy” to Bush’s Diplomacy: No Hot Dogs For Iran, More Weenie Diplomacy: Now with Venezuela and Syria, and W on 2005 Iranian Election. Note that Obama doesn’t just want American diplomats to talk to third world dictators and terrorists, he wants to be their new BFF. While I was glad to see Bush leave office, I now deeply miss Bush and Cheney, and I don’t think I’m the only one either. By the end of his first term as POTUS, I believe Obama will succeed in his campaign to rehabilitate George Bush’s reputation.
Obama now “meddling” in Honduras: Obama stands with Castro, Chavez and Ortega, Honduras Fights for Constitution, Obama Takes Sides with Chavez against the Honduran People, Honduran President Ousted Ahead of Vote to Extend His Power, How Obama Got His Groove Back: Honduran President Ousted Ahead of Vote to Extend His Power, President Declares Honduras Action “Illegal” Coup, Declares Chavez Thug Zelaya Still the Rightful President, Obama: Leave Zelaya Alone! He’s Still The Legal President Of Honduras, and Video: The coup in Honduras was illegal, says Obama.
From Obama’s lack of speaking out on the stealing of the Iranian presidential election and his slow condemning of the murder of Iranian protesters, to his strong support for Syria, Chavez, and the Honduran president, I can only conclude that Obama is quite comfortable with third world dictators and their methods. This raises a question in my mind: If Obama gets a second term, will he try to imitate Chavez and the Honduran president by changing US laws so that he could be POTUS forever? If anyone thinks Obama is not capable of this, please read these analyses by two psychologists: The Narcissist in Chief by Joy Tiz and Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer by Ali Sina. Since Dr. Sina is also an Iranian, his My Open Letter to Barack Hussein Obama is also worth reading.
On US terrorist detention policy: The rank dishonesty of the Obama administration.
Obama and the Democrats’ Deathcare: Ed Morrissey vs. Ezra Klein: A larger lesson of Obamacare, Obama: Healthier people must have insurance forced on them, and Obamacare as Obamacomedy.
On the other hand, why worry? One day soon Obama will finally heal our souls.
Completely disgusting: Wonkette Goes After Trig Palin Again.
Sotomayer wrong: SCOTUS overrules Sotomayor on Ricci and Supreme Court Overturns J. Sotomayor in Ricci v. DeStefano. Reaction: Of Course… White House Defends Loony Sotomayor After Court Overturns Her Latest Decision.
Obama is choosing to be weak. It’s really simple: since Obama was elected on a platform of empty promises – lots of goodies and only taxes on those “bad” rich people – he can’t afford to be honest and “strong.” An honest Leftist, who told the truth of how much his policies would cost, might well have lost to John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Michael Jackson: While I was not a big fan of Michael Jackson’s music, I really enjoyed Billie Jean and Thriller. I could understand, even though I disagree with it, why some of his fans would want to overlook his self-destructive life and just eulogize his talent. Still, the outpouring of media attention surprises me. Some interesting articles on the Jackson phenomenon: Too much Michael Jackson?, Some Quick Thoughts on Michael Jackson, Jackson was an IDOL, not an ICON – UPDATE, and King Michael: Thriller was Michael Jackson’s masterpiece. It was also his curse. In shockingly bad taste: Jacko’s dad on son’s death: Hey, be sure to check out my new record label.
